All those years of being a fan and now, as a Dad, I sing Toy dolls songs to my kids to get them to sleep. (Morgan and Georgia, 8 and 6) Their favorite is "Spiders in the dressing room" and "Nellie" of course! Although the songs usually get them chanting along rather than sleeping !! Toy dolls were on the first compilation tape I sent my girlfriend 18 years ago and she became hooked too eventually becoming my wife ! I know The Toy Dolls since '85 - and started listening to your music when I was 10 years old (!). A few time later I became a big Heavy Metal Fan and started playin' the E - guitar; 'till these days I'm a Heavy Metal Maniac and a Heavy Metal Musician, too - but I never stopped listening to the Toy Dolls. The're are two important things why I still love your music: the first thing is the kind of humor in your music - The Toy Dolls always make me feel happy and also feel a bit like a child, too that's great! The second thing is the way you play guitar: you are a wonderful guitarplayer - one of the best I ever listened to! For me Michael Algar is such a "Guitar Hero" like Angus Young (AC/DC), Eddie van Halen or Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne). just wanted 2 say thanx 4 giving me cool songs 4 the school run never has nellie the elephant and spiders in the dressing room entertained more than seeing my 6 yr old rockin in the car. Much to the annoyance of other parents. Even dug the videos out 2 watch scared 2 put in the machine in case it destroys history. still the best. Glad 2 have been brought back 2 reality...lovin it.. |

is: why go for the "obvious" but try something "completely"

The theme from "The Saint" series with Roger Moore was always catchy. If that isn't to you're liking, Nelson Riddle's theme for "The Untouchables" is a slice of 5/4 heaven. You might have some fun with Mancini's "Baby Elephant Walk," if you hadn't outdone it with Nellie. Do members of the London Philharmonic still serenade the ellies in Hyde Park Zoo at Christmas? Someone asked me what the most famous tune or song was that originated from Sunderland and I have to say Bobby Shaftoe is it! It is sang all over the world so I think you should do a version of this especially as you were brought up here and you are a Mackem. If it is speeded up who knows what it will sound like. hey man, i don't care if you don't reply this, i just want to let you know that one of my best news of the year is that the toy dolls, one of the greatest bands of the world is coming here (argentina) i think that what i'm gonna say is kinda stupid, but i hope you find it interesting: in my town (partido, actually) there was this rock store (rocker’) in which show window there was "orcastrated". i kept looking and looking and looking at it, everyday i passed by that store. everytime i saw that CD, i thought: who are those guys? i surely have heard about them about them a lot of times, but how come i never actually heard their music? and why did they spell their name with a "Z" instead of a regular "S"? that's original...and what about that lad dancing on the letters? he looks pretty classy and punky!! and so on, the image of that guy on the tip of his toes with a baton in his hand kept hoving on my head, till (i don't quite remember how) i listened to your fantastic music. needless to say, i became instantly a fan. i hope i didnt bore you... after all i've been living less than you've been touring, and not everyday i have the chance to share my enlighting experience with the very one who shone his light on me :-[ thank you very much for coming, sometimes here we feel like we're forgotten by the good bands, and we see one shitty band/artist/singing bimbo after another (from simple plan to hillary duff) visit/punish us, and meanwhile we have to witness the rise and fall of some great bands without having the chance of even scream and dance to their songs once without the band half a world away from us. i just can't wait to puke my lungs out dancing and screaming for you. you really, really, deserve it. We came from hamburg and were quite late because of the match of st.pauli vs. union berlin, but just in time to see the surfits and you guys! Brilliant performance, again, allthough the weather was really cruel... remember the people really trying to stage-dive and the security-guys slippering accross the stage ;-)Tommy was asking your roadie (she has done one kind of a brilliant job, agaon!!!), if you would come to spend the night in hamburg and she answered that you would stay there and... camp!? In a tent!? Crazy folks, you are... Dear Olga, I know you are busy and maybe my request is not that important to you but I will give it a try. My boyfriendÕs band was also playing at the Krueckau-Festival (his band are the Surfits and his name is Dirk) and my man was really excited several weeks in advance to meet you and your guys. Then in the backstage area a picture was taken with you, him and the singer of his band and with that one of his greatest wishes was granted. Unfortunately our damned camera decided to give up and the picture is lost forever. Dirk was more than depressed and IÕm suffering with him!!! Can you shed any light on what this album I have in my collection? It is on Wonderful World label WOW LP1 Tracks are Deirdre's a Slag, I've Got Asthma, She's a Worky Ticket, Everybody Jitterbug, She Goes to Fino's, Tommy Kowey's Car. Plays at 33 n third Even on your website there is no mention of it? Any ideas or information would be appreciated? Thanks ALB |

ALB hi This was a long
time ago! If I remember correctly, EMI gave permission to a company
to release that LP in the very early 80s. It is missing from the list
on the website, you are right, a picture of the sleeve needs to be scanned
and some info up, will get on to Ciaron about it. Cheers for pointing

Olga, After catching your show and having the chance to have a chat after the show at the Substage in Karlsruhe last year, I was wondering if you will take the opportunity to put a show together for the diehard fans in the UK ( London, Glasgow, Newcastle, etc?!) I know there had been issues with promoters not coming up trumps on their end of the bargain,in the pastbut I am sure something could be done to get the gang back on a stage in a town near us soon.
